Our full-day masterclasses are held each term in libraries, museums and galleries. Primary masterclasses are designed to extend and encourage high potential and gifted writers in Stage 3, while high school masterclasses are suitable for Stage 4 students. Schools send up to 12 students each with an accompanying teacher, allowing students to mingle with like-minded peers from other schools as they spend a day writing and creating. Develop a character, plan out your plot, and write, write, write! Join us as we take a look at some of the elements that make a great story, with lots of allocated writing time. Learn what to look for when editing your work, get feedback from other young writers, and ask the Story Hunter Guides all your curly questions about where to find inspiration, overcoming writer’s block, or whatever else you’re curious to know.
Considering setting, objects and characters’ inner lives, students take inspiration from Newcastle’s past to bring history to life on the page. Story Hunter have teamed up with local museums to provide a hands-on, informative day with plenty of writing time. Focusing on artefacts and characters from our region, students learn how to blend historical settings with their own imagination and use museum objects and displays as stimulus for their own creative work.
